How to leverage your own behavior
What are you motivated to do? If you were left alone, what would you naturally do? You can deduce partly your identity by your motivations and track record.
But how can you take advantage of that? How would you be capable of changing what you're motivated about, in a smart way? Is that even possible? Yep.
There are 3 "hacks" that can permanently affect your behavior, your thought patterns, and consequentially your actions... without you even noticing.
Self-evaluation:
You can manipulate, or in other words, increase your self-evaluation by, for example, changing how you look. If you improve your physical appearance. If you dress in clean clothes, tidy and groomed. Your self-evaluation would push you into doing things considered productive. The opposite is true as well. And it would turn out as you'd expect.
Even a sense of progress can increase your motivation. And ensures a higher likelihood to stick.
Environmental cues:
Changing your environment. Changing your friend group. The people you speak to. The place you live. The systems in place that surround you. Moving out to a place were slightly more successful people gather will change your pattern of behavior.
Your environmental cues are your triggers. Unable to play videogames? No videogame addiction. No junk food nearby? No junk food addiction. Weights easily accesible and inside your house? Probability of exercising increased 10 fold. No dumb friends who persuade you into self-destructive behavior? Self-destructive behavior turns no longer inevitable.
Neural input:
And lastly your neural input. i.e the information you input inside your neural net. Whatever fresh data your mind is going to loop. Change your input and you will indirectly change your pattern of behavior.
These 3 simple steps will help you transform your pattern of behavior indirectly.
And they might even affect your motivation and goal setting.
