Thinking Inside Your Head is Stupid

Thinking inside your head is stupid.

Outsource your working memory to paper instead.

Because imagine this: you come up with a problem, but then you find another problem that's even more problematic, and now you're stuck between two problems inside your head you have to solve at the same time. That's inefficient.

But with paper, you can leave your initial problem behind and save it for later. Then, focus on the new problem, and go back to the initial problem after you solved it. The first problem didn't go away - you didn't forget about it. You liberated your working memory because you didn't have to put the effort to remember it. It was saved for later.

This becomes especially true as complexity increases.
